Good Morning Sunshine....

Wow, what a way to start the day!

It is only 10:15a.m. and I feel like I need a drink.

The "mishaps" with my bookings continue. Today I had an appointment that takes 1 hour and 15 minutes booked in only 45 minutes. Now I know that I am amazing but I'm not that amazing!

I had to have my appointment come in early so that I could accommodate her. This also meant that I had to come in early as well. On a Saturday. Booooo.

I got to work nice and early. Got everything set up. No problem.

Then I checked the work email. There is an email from a notorious canceller cancelling her massage appointment for today at 11:00. She also said that she "hoped that we would be able to fill the spot", the time on the email..... 11:30p.m. That sure doesn't give me much time to find someone to fill that precious massage appointment. Oh ya, and she only booked this appointment yesterday afternoon. Can you say flake??

I was then told that we have no water!!! How am supposed to do a pedicure with no water?!

THEN.... the appointment who I needed to come in early was late! So I really only had 45 minutes to do a full pedicure and a bikini wax!

I really am Wonder Woman! I did it! I am awesome!

But now I need a drink.

AND we have confirmed the person who is incorrectly booking my appointments!

If I can't have a whisky I am going to go have a coffee instead!

*sigh*

Am I Upsetting You?

A  couple of months ago I started seeing a Naturopath. And I think that because by body is doing a little bit of detoxifying I have been breaking out like crazy!

Some people believe that being honest is saying whatever they are feeling with no concern for the people they are speaking to.

I had a client say to me.... "What have you been doing differently lately? Because your complexion isn't very good these days"

WOW!!! Can you believe that someone actually said that to me? As if I was completely unaware that I was breaking out!

So I calmly told her that I hadn't really changed anything but had started seeing a Naturopath and I think I was detoxing.

I then was given a lecture about Naturopaths and how they treat you without any real evidence and are all con artists.

My Naturopath is absolutely wonderful!! She has helped be so much! She does testing to back up pretty much everything that she does!

My client then went on to say "Am I upsetting you?" (as I had tears starting to form in my eyes. Of course you are you horrible person!!)

ARGH!!

Some people are just amazing

It is so true.

For all the crazy, and dare I say stupid people out there, there are some pretty darn amazing people too.

I am lucky enough to have some amazing people as clients.

People who can't believe that I have lived on a "farm" for the last 10 years and do not own rubber boots. So what do they do? "You know what? I have an extra pair of rubber boots. I'll drop them off for you" Amazing!

People who know that I am a knitter and imform me of a new yarn store in town. Amazing!

People who know that I am an avid reader and history buff and lend me fantastic books. Amazing!

People who ask "how are you?" and actually care. Super Amazing!

For all of my bitching about people, I am pretty lucky. I could write a book about the fantastic and fascinating people who come in to see me. People who over the years have become more than clients, they have become friends.

Some days are totally worth it

Well the title sums it up.

Some days really are worth it.

When someone ...

... tells you that you made their day.

...drops of an article that they thought you might find interesting.

...randomly gives you a cupcake. (those are up there on the list)

...asks for your advice and actually want to know what you think/advise.

...give you a BIG hung in thanks.

...can't believe the difference you made in their skin/eyebrows/feet.

...remembers that it is your birthday without you mentioning it (this also ranks high, sadly my birthday often gets passed by) this combined with the cupcake is tops ;)

...asks how you are because they are actually interested.

...did I mention hugs? Those are awesome!

That's all.

A good day today (though it is not my birthday....)

50 Shades of Ewwwww

We all know how popular the 50 Shades of Grey series is.

I too have read them.... my opinion of them is a whole other topic ;)

I mainly read them because every other client was asking me if I had read them (obviously looking for a conversation topic)

I am now thinking that this was a major mistake on my part.

I recently had a conversation with a client who is around my mom's age. She was saying how great the sex scenes were and that she bought the books for her husband.

Her husband!

She did this so that he would understand, and maybe learn something. She said that those books were the greatest things to happen to womens' sex lives.

She just kept on talking.

The whole time I was thinking.... this is way to much information.

I think my brain is now burned with awful thoughts of this women and her poor husband.

Ewwwww

Come On People

Why do people expect me to be bend over backwards flexible when they won't budge an inch?

If you call today to book an appointment for tomorrow don't get mad at me if I am already booked! Maybe you should have been more organised.

And NO I cannot call and move my other appointment to accommodate you. They booked that time for a reason. I know that you wouldn't move your appointment for someone else.

I can always put you on a wait list (I often do this to appease people)

But people just don't get it. If they have been lucky in the past and have been able to get a last minute appointment please do assume that this is the norm. It is not. You were lucky.

Oh. And by the way. No I cannot see you during my lunch. My lunch is for eating.

Ok. That's it for now.

Blargh

Hello??

Where is everybody??

This happens every year. I know that I should expect it. But that doesn't mean that it sucks any less.

Every year once October starts my business slows right down to a snails crawl.

And every year I go a little squirrely.

I start to worry about my pathetic little bank account. I worry about Christmas. (I know its far away but November pays for December so if I'm slow now it is like a little domino effect)

So in affect I end up feeling like, well, BLARGH! Which results in more wine drinking ;)

Oh well, it will all work out. It always does......

Am I Asking To Much?

Let's face it, booking appointments is not rocket science. Well, at least the last time I checked it wasn't.

The way I book my appointments is a little bit different that at other spas. Since I am the only aesthetician I have an extra 15 minutes booked with every appointment (this allows for extra time if someone is running late, allows me to make any sales and most importantly it allows me to clean up and set up for my next appointment!) So, if you are booked in with me for a pedicure at 9:00, which takes an hour, your appointment goes to 10:00 and my next appointment will be booked at 10:15. Does that make sense?

So why are my appointment constantly booked incorrectly?????

A manicure and pedicure appointment cannot be done in 45minutes!

Phone numbers need to be taken down! What if I am sick, my car breaks down..... these people would need to be contacted. How are you going to do that if you don't take down their number?

As far as I know an RMT (registered massage therapist) does NOT do waxing. So why are you booking my waxing appointments with my only coworker, who is an RMT?

When you just write down someones last name and no other information how am I supposed to know what they are booked for? And how do I contact them to find out .....if. you. do. not. take. down. their. number.???

Am I asking to much of these poor girls who work reception?
They complain that there is not really enough work for them to do during their shift. So......Why all the problems?

ARGH!!!!!

I Don't Even Know How to Respond

This story is from a couple of months back. It still bothers me when I think about it.

On a Wednesday afternoon I had a lady stop by and want to make an appointment.

Nothing new here.

She wanted a manicure, pedicure and a facial for Friday. Now, this being summer I am pretty busy, so my Friday was already booked. (Did she really think she could get a three hour long appointment with just two days notice?)

When I told her that unfortunately my Friday was already booked she had the gal (balls?) to say to me....

"Well that's your loss, isn't it"

What?????

Seriously????

How do you respond to that? I still don't know.

I think I stood there for a few seconds with my mouth hanging wide open. All I could say was "Oh... Uh... I'm sorry"

Why was  apologising? I don't know. I couldn't think of anything to say.

Blragh!

What are people so rude?!

Ok. End Rant.

First post!

Well hello there.

This is my first post (but I believe that I may be calling these rants)

Sometimes my spidey sense starts tingling.

I had an appointment booked today and I had a terrible feeling that they were either going to be late or stand me up. I called to confirm this appointment but sometimes that doesn't help. Well... she did finally show up. 20 minutes LATE! No apology. Nothing. Just "so what happens now since I am late?" Is that supposed to be an apology?

Anyways... I politely squeezed her in and made it work (I didn't have an appointment right after her anyways) grinding away at my teeth while I smiled.

Well I got through it. It's all good. But then she didn't even tip me! I know that I am not supposed to expect a tip, but, really?

Ok. That's all for now.

End Rant.
